The common illnesses of our patients are Stroke, Epilepsy, Brain Injuries, Hydrocephalus and Central Nervous System (CNS) Infections (Meningitis, Encephalitis, Abscess and others).
All these are serious conditions that could be fatal in the absence of proper diagnostics and medications. Given the costly expenses needed for their treatment, this becomes a great burden to our indigent patients at the UP-PGH who hail from all over the country.
To aid in diagnosis and healing, laboratory tests, brain-imaging procedures, life-support systems and life-saving medicine all require funds that more often than not, our patients do not have. Oftentimes, the corresponding crucial care cannot be given to them before their conditions take a turn for the worst.
In response to these critical needs, Let’s Save the Brain Foundation launched a fund raising campaign to establish the Patient Welfare Fund. The funds raised will provide indigent patients access to the necessary tests, procedures and medicine that will not only cure ailments at the soonest possible time, but more importantly, save lives.
