Jose Leonard R. Pascual V, MD, FPNA
President

Dr. Leonard Pascual is a consultant Neurologist at the UP-PGH, a Visiting Consultant and Project Head of Saint Luke’s Medical Center Stroke Databank, a Visiting Vascular Neurology Consultant at The Medical City and a Consultant Neurologist at the Manila Doctors Hospital. He is also an Associate Professor II at the Department of Anatomy, UP Manila, and a member of the Philippine Neurological Association and UP-Faculty & Alumni of the Neurosciences, Inc. (UPFANS). He is a BS Psychology graduate of the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and obtained his medical degree from the University of the Philippines Manila. He specializes in the management of people with strokes and other diseases of the brain, nerves, and spinal cord.


Philip A. Ramiro, MD, FPNA
Vice President

Dr. Philip Ramiro is a Consultant of the Department of Neurosciences, UP- PGH and a Professor III (Neurology) at the UP College of Medicine. He is a member of the UP-Faculty & Alumni of the Neurosciences, Inc. (UPFANS), Philippine Medical Association, Manila Medical Society and Philippine Neurological Association. He was also a Fellow in Clinical Neurology, Prince Henry Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He took up his pre-medicine course at the University of the East and finished medicine at the University of Sto. Tomas. He became a medical intern and had his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Medical Center Manila.  He then completed his residency training in Neurology at the Neurology Section, Department of Medicine, UP-PGH.


Martha C.T. Lu-Bolaños, MD, FPNA
Secretary

Dr. Martha Lu-Bolaños is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Section of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics and Neurosciences, UP-PGH. She is also a member of the University of the Philippines Faculty and Alumni of the Neurosciences, Inc. (UPFANS), Philippine Neurological Association, Child Neurology Society Philippines, Asian and Oceanian Child Neurology Association, Philippine League Against Epilepsy, Headache Council, PNA, Neuromuscular Council, Stroke Society of the Philippines, Philippine Society of Ultrasound in Clinical Medicine, Inc., Philippine Medical Association, Manila Medical Society, and the Filipino-Chinese Medical Association.


Julette Marie F. Batara, MD, FPNA
Treasurer

Dr. Julette Batara is a Clinical Associate Professor, Neurology consultant and the Assistant Chair for Services of the Department of Neurosciences, UP-PGH. She is also an active consultant of the Comprehensive Brain Tumor Center and a member of the Executive Committee and Training Committee of the Department of Neurosciences of St. Luke’s Medical Center. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuro-oncology at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution and attended clinical rotation in Medical Oncology at the Johns Hopkins International Medical Center in Singapore. She is the Vice-President of the Philippine Society for Neuro-oncology, member of the Executive Committee of the Asian Society for Neuro-oncology, and a member of the Board of Governors of the Brain Foundation of the Philippines.


Carlos L. Chua, MD, FPNA
Board Member

Dr. Carlos Chua graduated from the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines in 1975 and had his residency training in Adult Neurology at the Section of Neurology, Dept. of Medicine, University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital from 1977 -1979. He then went on to pursue his Fellowship in Clinical Neurology and Peripheral Nerve Diseases at the Neurologic Institute, Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan from 1981-1983. He was President of the Philippine Neurological Association in 2004, and Chair of the Department of Neurosciences, UP-PGH from 2013 – 2015.


Gadwin Estabas – Handumon
Board Member

Mr. Gadwin Estabas-Handumon is the Sectoral Representative for the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).  He is the Founder and General Manager of Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Executive Officer of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation Inc., President of the Misamis Occidental Federation of Microfinance Services (MOFMS) and President of the Misamis Occidental First Integrated Coconut Processing Center. He is also a Credit Committee Member of the Mindanao Alliance of Self Help Societies Southern Philippines Educational Cooperative Center, President/CEO of the Rural Bank of Plaridel, Vice-Chairperson of the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, and Board Member of the Mindanao Cooperative Hostel Services, as well as Rimansi Philippines, Inc.


Marianne G. Quebral
Board Member

Ms. Marianne Quebral is currently the Director for Networks and Partnerships of Ang Misyon, Inc., a Lopez Foundation working with the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth.  Mayan is also Adviser for Networks and Partnerships of First Gen Inc.  Formerly with the Oscar M. Lopez Center, Asian Institute of Management and UNICEF, Mayan is a pioneer in fund raising and trained at the Fund Raising School in Indiana, U.S.A. In 1999 she co-founded Venture for Fund Raising, a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching the joy of giving, and is the author of The Fund Raiser’s Guide to Fund Raising and Fund Raising 101.  She is a Trustee of Venture for Fund Raising, Children’s Hour, and DILAAB.


Godfrey T. Robeniol, MD, FPNA
Board Member

Dr. Godfrey Robeniol is a Clinical Associate Professor of the Department of Neurosciences, University of the Philippines College of Medicine. He is also a neurology consultant of the UP-PGH, Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Brain Foundation Inc., and the Medical Director of HI-Eisai Pharmaceutical, Inc. He is also a member of the Philippine Neurological Association, Philippine League Against Epilepsy, Stroke Society of the Philippines, Manila Medical Society, and Philippine Medical Association.

He was President of the UP-PGH Faculty and Alumni of the Neurosciences (UPFANS) from 2007-2009, and President of the Philippine Neurological Association in 2009. He obtained his degree in BS Biology from the University of Santo Tomas, graduating Cum Laude, then pursued his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. He had his residency training in Neurology at UP-PGH.


Cymbeline Perez-Santiago, MD, FPNA
Board Member

Dr. Cymbeline Perez-Santiago is a consultant Neurologist at the Makati Medical Center, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, and St Luke’s Medical Center Global City.   She is a fellow of the Philippine Neurological Association, a member of the UP-Faculty& Alumni of the Neurosciences, Inc. (UPFANS), the Stroke Society of the Philippines, and the Philippine League Against Epilepsy.  She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine Class 1996, BS Biology at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, and a government scholar at the Philippine Science High School.


Lourdes K. Ledesma, PhD, FPNA (HON)
Executive Director

 Dr. Lourdes K. Ledesma is the immediate past President of the UP-PGH Faculty & Alumni of the Neurosciences, Inc. (UPFANS) and is a consultant at the Section of Neurology, Dept. of Neurosciences of the Makati Medical Center.  She likewise has her private practice at the Ledesma Center for Neuropsychological Services and is a licensed psychologist in the Philippines as well as in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

She was a Clinical Fellow at the Harvard University School of Medicine, where she trained in Clinical Neuropsychology.  She is a Fellow of the Psychological Association of the Philippines, and an Honorary Fellow of the Philippine Neurological Association, and Child Neurology Society, Philippines.  She is also a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Neuropsychological Society.
